Employment and growth

In 2013 the Dutch aviation industry provided direct employment to 85,000 people in the first two links of the chain, which is approx. 1.2% of the working population in the Netherlands. This figure is expected to increase by some 7,400 jobs by 2018. Despite the credit crisis and all kinds of international events that had repercussions on air traffic, in recent decades jobs in the Dutch aviation industry have seen faster growth than the Dutch average.

That success is underpinned by the Dutch aviation industry’s strong international competitive position. The key premise of this Sectoral Plan is to further strengthen the competitive position and earning power of the Dutch aviation industry.
